German postcodes (Postleitzahlen) have five digits. The first digit marks a postal zone, and the first two digits a postal region.
Tips
- The house number comes after the street name: Hauptstraße 12.
- The postcode goes before the city: 10115 Berlin.
- Do not add the state to the address.
- Straße is often abbreviated to Str. on labels.
